Professional services firm Grant Thornton Promotes is asking its employees to take the train to help it achieve its net-zero targets.
The company has introduced a travel booking system to promote the use of trains rather than planes for international travel as it seeks to cut emissions by 90 per cent by 2045.
Travel accounts for up to 10 per cent of its emissions, and employees will be encouraged to use less carbon intensive transport where possible, and provided information on the emissions of different options.
A champion of hybrid working, the company has promoted research that advocates adopting a hybrid working approach to boost productivity and wellbeing, and it has itself already achieved a 48 per cent reduction in emissions related to business travel and commuting since 2019 through hybrid practices.
