It was always going to happen. Someone, somewhere would link climate change and Gaza. Quite how the attack on Israel (and subsequent extreme retaliation) were about fossil fuels and solar panels may have escaped most, but here we are.
In Manchester a flag with "Insuring Genocide" stood outside the AIG office on Deansgate. Thirty protesters gave out leaflets to the public and spoke about how of Palestinians are being affected by the arms companies AIG insures.
The protest then moved to AXA’s new office at No1 St Michael's with campaigners forming a blockade in front of the building holding up banners reading “Stop Insuring Climate Criminals”.
Sadly for the protestors (by now we’re a bit confused which ones are protesting about what) were met with a building that had been locked in advance, but at least the staff got to watch through the windows.
The campaign has launched a boycott of AXA, AIG, and all their sub-brands, warning that Aviva and Allianz will be next if they continue to bankroll fossil fuels and genocide.
