Nature Impact acquires 102-acres of degraded farmland in Kent to restore into permanently protected habitats.
The site on Wrotham Hill Nature Reserve will convert underutilised grade 3 farmland into a diverse range of native habitats including wildflower meadows, orchards, and wildlife corridors. The project will create long-term value for ecosystems and people with Nature Impact establishing a Community Benefit Society to support access to the site and future initiatives planned to focus on food production, education and wellbeing.
This site is Nature Impact’s third acquisition since its foundation in 2023 and follows previous successful restorations in Kent and East Sussex. Nature Impact’s projects are financed through the sale of measurable biodiversity improvements, supplied by both the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) market and its recently launched Nature Credits offering.
Simon Crichton, head of the nature and resource team at Triodos Bank UK that helped fund the acquisition, said: “We’re always really pleased to see a customer go from strength to strength, returning to us for further finance as their impact expands. It’s projects like this that will deliver lasting benefits for both the natural environment and local community. demonstrating the impact that the BNG scheme can have when executed well.”
