Parisian taxis go hydrogen

As part of the Hydrogen Fuel for Paris project, fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) and being introduced to Parisians in the form of a fleet of taxis.

For the Paris Olympics, the EU is funding an initiative to expand the hydrogen infrastructure, with the deployment of eight large-scale hydrogen refuelling stations (HRS) in the Paris area.

The aim is to boost uptake of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), especially taxi fleets to at least 5 per cent (approximately 2500 FCEVs).

The stations will be deployed in two phases and in the light of the results from the first phase, a reference design able to accelerate technical-economic progress in hydrogen distribution and supply will be established.

The project has been selected in the context of the CEF Blending Facility Call, with the European Commission (EC) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) blending their support with a substantial investment by a financial institution.
