Autotrader, that might know a thing or two about used cars, has reported that that two EVs - the Tesla 3 and the Jaguar I-Pace are currently the fastest selling used cars.

The pace (no pun intended) of used EVs has been picking up, with a combination of high depreciation making them affordable and increasing infrastructure making them more practical.

Sales of new EVs in the first six months of 2025 are reported to be up by 35 per cent on the first six months of 2024, but the second-hand EV sector saw even higher sales growth of 59 per cent in the first quarter of 2025.In the second-hand sector the two fastest selling cars in July to date were EVs and overall EVs were joint fastest selling fuel type across all models.

Colin Walker, head of transport at the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU), said: “Price parity between used EVs and their petrol equivalents has been reached, meaning the savings that come from their cheaper running costs can be enjoyed from the moment drivers get their hands on the keys. Analysis from the ECIU found that the best-selling EVs of 2024 save their owners £1600 a year over a petrol.”
