Octopus Energy has entered into a partnership with LG Electronics to supply heating and cooling systems across Europe.
The tie-up will see LG’s heat pumps and air conditioners integrated with Octopus’s proprietary technology platform, Kraken, which enables users to automatically run devices when energy is cheapest and greenest.
Octopus, already one of Europe’s biggest heat pump installers, intends that the new partnership will expand from the UK and Germany into more European markets over time and grow to cover other appliances, as the companies combine LG’s hardware with Octopus’s software.
Greg Jackson, CEO of Octopus Energy, who was recently appointed as a non-executive member of the Government’s Cabinet Office Board, said: “Heat pumps are the linchpin of clean, affordable heating and LG makes some of the best on the market. By plugging them and their air conditioning units into our Kraken tech, we can make them even cheaper to run, giving households an easy way to cut their bills while helping the planet.”
The Cabinet Office Board provides strategic leadership for the department, comprising Cabinet Office ministers, senior executives, and non-executives from outside government.
