Feed-in frenzy

Okay, so perhaps not a frenzy, but renewable power supplier Good Energy is doubling its solar export payments, and this may create something of a step change to feed-in tariffs.

A new 40p per kWh rate is currently the highest export tariff rate available to UK solar households. The new rate, which is fixed for 12 months, is available for customers who have installed their solar and battery storage through Good Energy and could see customers effectively receiving free electricity after their bill reductions and export payments.

Good Energy has long-term power purchase agreements with a community of more than 2,500 independent UK generators and is the UK’s largest voluntary administrator of the feed-in tariff scheme.

Tom Parsons, director of sales and origination, Good Energy said: “Since Good Energy launched HomeGen, the first ever export tariff for UK homes with solar, 20 years ago, we have been committed to helping people to become generators of renewable power themselves. With this new export rate we wanted to make it abundantly clear that helping those microgenerators remains absolutely core to what we do.”
