Ferrero values deliver resilience

Ferrero has published its latest sustainability report citing several major successes, including the Ferrero Rocher's box redesign that has cut the plastic-to-product ratio by 14.7 per cent since 2019/20, avoiding roughly 16,000 tons of plastic cumulatively. Globally, 92.9 per cent of overall packaging is now designed for recyclability, reusability or compostability.

Other highlights include a 98 per cent traceability on cocoa sourcing and coffee at 100 per cent traceability to plantation. Scope 1 and 2 emissions are down 7.2 per cent year-on-year, with 24 plants now running on 100 per cent renewable grid electricity, and a Scope 3 supplier data campaign covering around 60 per cent of raw material volumes with a 93 per cent supplier submission rate.

The report highlights how sustainability initiatives are embedded across the business and are aimed at supporting sustainable food systems end-to-end: from the farms and communities where ingredients are sourced, to its factories, products and people. It also shows the enhanced Ferrero Farming Values framework as a central driver of the Group’s approach to sourcing ingredients and resilience across supply chains.

"Ferrero’s long-term success remains closely linked to the wellbeing of the people and ecosystems on which our supply chain depends. Consumers are increasingly looking for brands they can trust, built on quality, good sourcing practices, careful manufacturing, and a genuine commitment to people and the planet,” observed Giovanni Ferrero, president of Ferrero Group.

The Group also completed its first Group-wide water corporate footprint assessment and joined the Alliance for Water Stewardship.
