As part of its regenerative agriculture strategy, developed with Unilever, Tikehau Capital, AXA’s impact fund partner, has invested in a major chilli and paprika producer known for its commitment to traceability and sustainability.

The company now holds a controlling stake in Juan Navarro Garcia (JNG) after AXA Climate conducted ESG and impact due diligence, assessing both risks and positive contributions to fund outcomes such as climate, biodiversity, water, social, and health.

The funding strategy was announced in May 2022 as a memorandum of understanding between AXA, Unilever, and alternative asset management group Tikehau Capital, with an ambition to create an impact fund dedicated to accelerating and scaling the regenerative agriculture transition. Regenerative agriculture practices may play a crucial role in addressing climate change and environmental challenges, as healthy soils can sequestrate carbon, support biodiversity, preserve water, and improve the resilience of agricultural yields.
