Time and tide

Donald Trump has made it clear that he is not a great fan of climate change mitigation, and many fear a rapid and brutal repealing of the Biden Administration’s funding for green energy and clean tech.

In particular, the remaining funds of the Inflation Reduction Act are in the crosshairs, and even if Elon Musk presents an opportunity for a softening of his stance on EVs, there is unlikely to be much else to celebrate on that side of the Atlantic.

On this side there is more commitment, and a chance for the UK to become more of a clean tech hub as the US becomes less attractive to investment and companies. Not that this will be more than mitigation.

And then there is that tantalising prospect that Musk will ignite US interest in EVs, something that has been slowly building, as the New AutoMotive’s Global Electric Vehicle Tracker (GEVT) has shown.
