Major trade deals signed since 2025 are actively advancing climate cooperation, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) metric, the Trade & Climate Tracker, shows.

Climate cooperation is explicitly mentioned in 59 per cent of recent trade agreements whose texts are public proving that modern economic pacts are evolving into tools for the green transition rather than just vehicles for tariff cuts.

Emissions reductions: feature in 40 per cent of the agreement texts and 67 per cent of the mapped agreements feature explicit energy-related provisions, supporting cooperation on renewable energy infrastructure and grids. In addition, 54 per cent of the tracked deals cover critical minerals like lithium, cobalt, copper, and rare earths, prioritising supply chain security and local value chains.
