Stiell rallies Europe in climate change

UN Climate Change executive secretary Simon Stiell made a speech in at the Europe 2025 Conference calling on Europe to move faster on renewables.

Starting with a very thinly veiled reference to the US under Trump, he said: “As one government steps back from climate leadership, it opens up space for others to step forward and seize the vast benefits on offer.”

He praised Major economies like the UK and Brazil that have already delivered their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) but urged Europe to build a comprehensive new national climate plan for the environment and for a security guarantee.
