Driving customer loyalty through circular design

A short case study in using sustainable methods to increase the customer base.

Mejuicer is a London-based juice delivery service that has achieved an 82 per cent bottle return rate for corporate customers through a closed-loop system, reduced packaging waste by replacing single-use plastic with reusable glass bottles and strengthened its brand positioning through a sustainability-led business model.

Founded in 2021, the company supplies made-to-order, additive-free juices and wellness shots to their clients. The founders intentionally chose reusable glass over plastic to stand out in a competitive market, engage customers tangibly in sustainability, and future-proof the business against tightening environmental regulations.

By supplying juices in small, made-to-order batches, particularly for bespoke corporate and hospitality events, a demand-led production approach minimises overproduction and food waste. Even the juice pulp created as a production byproduct is turned into biofuel through Refood, and into compost and animal feed through Dean City Farm.

As you would expect, EVs were added to their delivery fleet.

Taken as a whole, this short case study shows how small sustainable actions can be used together to create a business and a narrative that allowed this brand to gain a foothold in some very large corporate companies. This story has been highlighted by the Broadway Initiative, the forum where government, the financial community and leaders from business and civil society can co-ordinate the business transition to net-zero.
