According to new data from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), renewable energy systems reached a new high, with an installation every few minutes.

The new figures come on top of the record number of solar panels installed last year with over a quart of a million new panels deployed.

In total, 369,000 certified renewable energy systems installed in homes and small businesses, a 34 per cent increase from 2024.

Rooftop solar recorded 267,032 installations completed with new builds accounting for over 36 per cent of these arrays. Heat pumps reached over 60,000 certified units, and battery storage doubled with over 40,000 installations. Combined, the systems are estimated to generate a potentuial1.8GWh.

Cornwall, Somerset, and North Yorkshire recorded the highest total volumes of installations.

The UK has now reached 2.4 million certified installations with a total capacity of 10GW.
