Amazon has made the largest renewable energy investment in Australia with nine new power purchase agreements (PPA) that will add 430MW of clean energy to the grid and bring the company's total renewable capacity to nearly 1GW (990MW) nationwide once fully operational.
The newly signed portfolio includes: one wind farm, three utility-scale solar and battery hybrids, four distributed solar-battery projects, and a new battery installation.
The investments mark Amazon's largest renewable energy investment in Australia in a single year, and with the new investments there should be 20 renewable energy projects in total.
This latest investment complements Amazon's previously announced investment to expand data centre infrastructure in Australia by 2029, strengthening Australia's cloud and AI capabilities. Announced alongside Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in June 2025, the investment will deliver infrastructure to power advanced AI and other technologies.
