Ørsted’s Revolution Wind construction resumes

Ørsted has won the right to restart work on its joint Revolution wind project. It is one of several projects that has been halted on grounds of ‘national security’ and being contested by offshore wind developers.

The US District Court for the District of Columbia has granted the preliminary injunction sought by Revolution Wind against the December suspension order issued by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).

The action will allow the Revolution Wind Project to restart while the underlying lawsuit challenging the August and December 2025 BOEM director’s orders progresses.

Ørsted has said that the Project will resume construction work as soon as possible.

Revolution Wind is a 50/50 joint venture between Global Infrastructure Partners’ Skyborn Renewables and Ørsted and raises hopes for a similar result for the larger Sunrise Wind project.
