So it’s done. Andy Burnham has appointed his first cabinet and made the changes. Other than the revolving door of Premiership, changes that will directly affect the sustainability market are chiefly the appointment of John Healy as Chancellor and, of course, Miatta Fahnbulleh as Energy Security and Net Zero Secretary, whilst Ed Miliband has been neatly pushed aside to be become Foreign Secretary.

The removal of Miliband also leaves some room for Burnham on North Sea oil drilling licences, and saves Miliband’s face as the new PM takes a more holistic view of a transition.

As for the incoming Fahnbulleh, she has previously been a Junior Communities Minister, resigning after Labour's disastrous election results in May. Born in Liberia, she came to the UK as a child.

Fahnbulleh has, in the past, expressed support for Corbynite policies, and the idea of nationalised utilities hangs heavy over all Labour governments, but this new one in particular. How this will translate into her department, and how much real power is yielded, will be seen.
