Latest figures from the newly minted Heat Pump Association (HPA UK) show that UK heat pump sales reached record highs in 2025, with more than 125,000 units sold.
This equates to a 27 per cent increase on 2024, in part driven by the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) but is short of the 33 per cent annual growth that would be needed to meet the current 450,000 yearly target by 2030.
Air-to-water pumps were the highest sellers, and rising 26 percent, whilst ground and water source heat pumps increased by 32 per cent from a smaller base.
Approximately 36 per cent of heat pumps sold in the UK in 2025 were manufactured domestically, a 38 per cent rise in British-made units over 2024.
While this growth is strong, the UK still has a lower proportion of heat pumps compared to the EU average.
HPA UK statistics were gathered through a combination of utilising data provided by HPA UK manufacturing members and using market estimation techniques to extrapolate the data to represent the full UK heat pump market and includes factory gate sales of Air-to-Water (A2W) monobloc units, Air-to-Water (A2W) split units, Ground and Water Source units, domestic hot water heat pumps (DHWHP) and others such as exhaust air Heat pumps and integrated hybrid heat pumps, but does not include air to air heat pumps as this would make the data incomparable to many EU data sources.
