Ørsted will continue work on its Revolution Wind project in the US after the Court for the District of Columbia granted a preliminary injunction regarding the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s stop-work order.
While the underlying lawsuit challenging the stop-work order progresses, Revolution Wind will continue to seek to work collaboratively with the US Administration and other stakeholders toward a prompt and complete resolution.
The ban is directly linked to the Trump Administration’s cool attitude to renewables, particularly offshore wind, and the court victory may be short-lived as the Administration will seek further measures, but for now represents a significant reprieve.
Ørsted rose on the news, giving the embattled renewable company so respite having recently issues a rights issue to shore up its financial position.
Revolution Wind, off the coast of Rhode Island and Connecticut, is a 50/50 joint venture with Global Infrastructure Partner’s Skyborn Renewables.
