NESO is seeking views on developing the Regional Energy Strategic Plans (RESP) methodology.

In November 2025, it launched a six-week consultation on the RESP methodology. The consultation invited customers and stakeholders to provide feedback on our proposed approach to RESP. The consultation closed on 16 January 2026 and will publish the final version in Summer 2026.

But there are four areas of additional work requiring additional clarity and technical depth:
• Network planning assurance for gas
• Spatial context for gas and biomethane
• Whole system optimisation
• Specification of strategic investment need

On 27 February 2026 a document will be published share the additional work and open a two-week window for feedback, from 27 February to 13 March. The feedback form will only be available from 27 February. During the feedback window an online response form will be open, along with other feedback channels such as workshops, and information through webinars and materials.
