Bloomberg and the Financial Times have reported that Barclays is to rebuild its carbon trading presence, having had a somewhat on/off relationship with the sector over the year, including acquiring and selling components of the business.

If true, the decision reverses a decade long ambivalence as the bank eyes a market that has seen considerable growth in the last few years, with so called carbon taxes and regulations forcing companies to account and offset carbon emissions.
